Quote of the Day
"September 11 did not do as much damage to the fabric of American society as we seem determined to do to ourselves. Is the Russia of the late Romanovs really our model, a selfish, superstitious empire thrashing toward self-destruction in the name of a doomed status quo?"
-from Diplomat John Brady Kiesling's resignation letter to Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Complete text of the letter is available on Salon
Actually, the complete text of the letter can be found in the post below this one, dammit! Actually this is more of a timing issue that proves that great minds think alike.
Refer to wseay's DEA post and prepare to be hanged, dragged, and quartered! Well, at least tarred and feathered.

We posted six minutes apart! Of course, I didn't see your post as I was picking my quote out of this incredible ballsy letter. Good luck to Mr. Keisling in getting back home. He might even have a little welcome home party at the airport like Jose Padilla.
I urge everyone to read the entire text of the the letter, either from Salon or from the Times. This is not some "muddle-headed hippy lefty" opposing the war. This is a career diplomat making the conscious decision to destroy his own career, which he calls his "dream job" in his letter, because he recognizes how stupid and dangerous the course we are pursuing is.
