A Short History of America
I just watched this movie. I really liked this series of images. I subsequently went to this website. Today was a good day.
rneff3, I bet this is your other favorite ;-P (Not Safe For Much Anything)
I second the movie; it is fascinating but sad, particularly the fate of R.Crumb's brother Charles, who exhibited the talent for illustration earlier than Robert but succumbed to an eerie fascination with this version of Treasure Island.

The conversations with Charles in the movie are riveting. Particularly the portion where Charles discusses the basis of his psychoses: His extreme narcissism. Any blow to his self image/esteem results in a fit of violent rage. I'm not sure if he's just parroting his shrink, or if it's a self-diagnosis. Fascinating either way.

Crumb is a great movie, as is Terry Zwigoff's next movie Ghost World, which is based on the cult comic book of the same name.
Another fantastic biopic is Theremin: An Electronic Odessey, about the inventor of the world's first electronic musical instrument. The theremin was taken seriously for several years after its introduction, and Clara Rockmore became famous as the foremost electronic virtuoso in the world. But by the 1950's, the instrument --which is the precursor to all modern synths, was most relegated to sound effects duty for science fiction movies like Forbidden Planet and The Day the Earth Stood Still.
