Quote of the Day
"I just couldn't get them to do anything."
-Shelby County Mayor A. C. Wharton on Wendy's employees' novel firefighting technique.
When I was a kid, my parents owned a canary yellow Cherokee Chief. My mother drove my sisters and I through the Germantown McDonald's drive-thru, when flames suddenly shot out from under the hood. We ran out of the truck and into the restaurant while the fire continued to burn so high that it almost scorched the building's roof. My mom asked the manager if she could call the fire department and was coldly told no. We could all plainly see our vehicle through the McDonald's window, so my mother calmly and politely pointed out to the manager that the fire was growing, the Jeep was parked about three feet away from the side of his restaurant, and that eventually the gas tank would explode. The manager looked at the jeep and said, " I'm sorry ma'am, but we have a strict policy against allowing our customers to use our phone." So mom ran to the bank next door and called the fire department from there. Fortunately, the fire dept showed up and put the fire out in about two minutes. Unfortunately, our beloved Cherokee never rolled again.

Don't you just love robot (I'm sorry we have a strict phone policy) managers! That is why you are working in fast food, because you can't think!

The funniest part was that they had to call the corporate offices twice before they realized the damned restaurant was on fire!
None of this is surprising, I have eaten at that Wendy's.
