Where Should You Be Living?

Find out here.

Apparently, "Hi, I'm in Delaware" should be a major part of my lexicon.

President Match

Although the AOL Elections site could easily be mistaken for InDecision2004, it does offer an interesting feature called President Match. At this point in the election cycle, the suggestions the quiz offers are certainly no mystery by the end of the survey, but it is thorough and the rankings are informative (who would've guessed Sharpton would be third in my rankings?). Answering these simple questions made me think about the way policy and issues are framed today. For example, although No Child Left Behind may be a horrible policy (It may not be. I am not that familiar with it, unfortunately), certainly one can't be for leaving children behind? Same with Clear Skies; I am all for clear skies, in general, even though this policy may specifically suck. This lexical game playing is not just found in the naming of government initiatives, it is also found in more general political issues. Much of our polity seems to be constructed of loaded questions. Can you think of others?

Exactly how bad did you want your MTV?

Find out by taking this '80s music quiz. Actually, this quiz is so long I cannot believe I completed it, but it reminded me of a few songs that I haven't listened to as of late. I made an 87.5% on the test, but I fully expect some of the Memphilterati--time permitting--to trounce that score.

The foreign policy quiz

The e-thepeople, umm, people have put together a simple little foreign policy quiz. Turns out I am a Global markets/Diplomacy-Human Rights-Cooperation kind of foreign policy thinker. Take the quiz and tell everyone where you fit in.

Programmer or Serial Killer

Can you tell the difference between an inventor of a prgoramming language and serial killer? Programming Language Inventor or Serial Killer? is a little quiz that asks you to do just that.

Fake or Foto?

Do you have the eyes of an eagle? Can you spot a photoshop job at 10 paces? Well, here's your chance to prove it. Fake or Foto shows ten images and asks you to decide if they are real or CG. It's tougher than you think. I got a failing grade: 50%.

Not good with faces?

Well, can you imagine trying to place people or events without them? If not, try any of the numerous Invisibles quizzes at Filmwise.com, in which actors' faces are removed from stills of famous movies. Trying to determine the movie can be surprisingly difficult, even to those of us who fancy ourselves as avid moviegoers, but they are great fun. After you finish that quiz there are many more. Also, try some of the user-submitted faceless quizzes.

A Few Literary Quizzes

As you know, I am a sucker for a quiz. Bloomsbury has a seeming mother lode of great English lit quizzes. I will personally send a $5 bill to the first person who gets 10 out of 10 on this one. Since, we are on the honor system here, those of you without honor need not apply. And for those among you who think that Monty Python is literary, here is a quiz for you. Lest you think the British bias here is what's causing the problem, there are a couple of stumpers on the Amercian one, too.
